Safflower has been used in some regions of Asia and Africa as a remedy acting like laxatives and antidotes to poison, and a medicinal oil in order to enhance sweating and cure fevers (22). Perilla seeds come from an herb named perilla, which is a rich and flavorful plant. The herb is native to East Asia, yet has become more readily available in other areas because of its benefits.
